October 2012 - JESUS – the greatest friend of all - part 2

Read together the Bible text: John 11; 1 - 43.

I 1. Cor 10; 13 Paul says to the church, "No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man;
but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation
will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it."
Bad and challenging things are all part of the experience of being human. There is NOT a purpose with
everything that happens. We live in a world which lies in the power of evil. Life is often good, but it can also be
very tough and demanding. HOWEVER:

1) Trials and temptations which God allows will never destroy one's faith, but rather strengthen it.

2) God is not behind the bad, but neither has He lost control. The promise is that He turns the bad to the
good.

3) We will not find an answer to all our questions, and our «why's» must therefore just be left to rest in God's
faithfulness sometimes, and we can fall back on his love and care for our losses here in life.

For discussion:
1) Why is it sometimes difficult for us to trust in God in the difficulties and trials of life?
2) Can we learn anything from Martha's answer? "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not
be dead. BUT even now (when the situation is as it is), I know that God will give you whatever you
ask".

Takk = Nåde
